ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has announced the appointment of former cricketer Aqib Javed as the interim coach for Pakistan’s white-ball cricket team. The decision comes following Gary Kirsten’s resignation from the role last month.

Aqib Javed, who has had a distinguished career both as a player and coach, accepted the position on Sunday, the PCB confirmed in a statement. His tenure as interim coach will extend until the conclusion of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025.

The PCB also revealed plans to appoint a permanent head coach after the 2025 Champions Trophy. Aqib will play an expanded role following the tournament, with additional responsibilities in the national selection committee.

Javed, known for his expertise in white-ball cricket, expressed his readiness to guide the team through this crucial period as Pakistan prepares for upcoming international tournaments.
